Lott Benjamin Davis was on the 1880 census in Watkins Glen with his wife Julia H. Davis (b. 1825 in CT). Lott was listed as a "sexton" which generally means he was a church caretaker, but it could also mean he was a poet. Next to his photo in the Harper's New Monthly magazine article was a poem on women's rights - possibly written by him, but that is not made clear.
Mormon website gives Lott Davis' parents as Greeley Davis and Lucy
Dow. Lott's birthdate was given as 19 Dec. 1812 in Reading Centre,
Schuyler co., NY. His death date was given as 11 May 1892.
