Lewis Bailey House
Moreland, Dix, Schuyler co., NY

Built by Lewis Bailey in 1879.

One of his daughters, Nellie Bailey Wright, is said to have been allowed to lay
one of the stones when she was about two years old.  The house was sold out of
the family in the 1940's, and has had many owners since that time.
This picture is a copy of the original, which was a blurry snapshot taken in 1937.
The house looks the same today.

The stones were laid flat-wise.  Barbara Bell did an article about the house
c. 1950s for the Elmira Star-Gazette.  Local artist Talitha Botsford also
did a watercolor painting of the house, years ago.
The house is across and down the road from the Wilson Bailey house.

Contributed by Carol Brill, daughter of Nellie Bailey Wright.
