SWITZER CEMETERY - Town of Orange
Recent notes from Bill Fenton says this cemetery plot no longer exists.
JoAnn Sgrecci found the following information in the 1980s:
A barn stands near the intersection of Grandview Hill & Switzer
Hill.
A previous owner of the property removed the stones and plowed the
field,
and at one time the stones were placed in the barn. We believe
this owner,
who later moved to Corning, NY, took the stones with him.
A former historian had a bag of stone pieces from this plot, and
one of them had
"Henry Jr." on it.
The only way we can guess who was buried there would be to
check early
Switzers in other cemeteries. Henry Switzer Sr. lived only
a short time, maybe
4 years after they moved to Schuyler co., NY. A small boy
Aaron was only
8 yrs old when he died. Anna Neff Switzer, the mother,
married Captain Hight,
but she has no stone with him (and so may have been buried here).
Some bits of info from the stone pieces was not copied.
They were given to a museum and passed onto another.
